Barack Hussein Obama Broken Campaign Promises

Barack Hussein Obama Broken Campaign Promises

Barack Hussein Obama made a lot of campaign promises.  But most of what we have seen so far have been broken campaign promises.  Obama’s statements were empty from the start; he and his liberal trash friends had no intention of making good on any of them.

As a candidate, he promised to:

  • Give five days for the public to view bills online before he signed them
  • Run a transparent administration
  • Bring all combat troops in Iraq home in 16 months
  • Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses
  • Provide tax credits to businesses to hire new employees
  • Allow Americans to withdraw 401(k) and retirement funds without penalties

… among other lies.

Sunlight Before Signing

“When there is a bill that ends up on my desk as the president, you the public will have five days to look online and find out what’s in it before I sign it,”

Still waiting…

Transparency

“My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government.  We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration.  Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.”

Bring Troops Home in 16 Months

On Obama’s campaign website, he promised to “remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months.”

Capital Gains Tax Elimination

“Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses…  Eliminating Capital Gains Taxes for Entrepreneurs and Investors in Small Business.”

New American Jobs Tax Credit

“… if a company that currently has 10 U.S. employees increases its domestic full time employment to 20 employees, this company would get a $30,000 tax credit — enough to offset the entire added payroll tax costs to the company for the first $50,000 of income for the new employees.  The tax credit will benefit all companies creating net new jobs, even those struggling to make a profit.”

Hiatus on 401(k) Penalties

“Since so many Americans will be struggling to pay the bills over the next year, I propose that we allow every family to withdraw up to 15% from their IRA or 401(k) – up to a maximum of $10,000 – without any fine or penalty throughout 2009.”

Executive Signing Statements

Obama criticized Bush for issuing signing statements.  He told an audience during his campaign, “That’s not part of [the president's] power.”

On March 11, two days after issuing a memorandum negating Bush’s signing statements, Obama attached his own signing statement to a $410 billion government spending bill.
